Teacher and Presenter – URJ Biennial in Chicago, IL

URJJoin Shira and thousands of others from across North America to “learn, pray, share ideas, dance and sing”. Shira will be teaching and presenting through performance and interactive instruction.

 

  • Thursday, December 12 -  3:45 – 5:00 p.m. – Experimenting in the Art of Gathering

    • Thousands of unaffiliated families. Two Queens neighborhoods. No Reform movement presence. Family Shabbat events piloted by URJ, Eisner & Crane Lake Camps and ShirLaLa. How might this experiment inspire you to rethink engagement efforts in your own community? Together we’ll explore elements of the design and implementation process, and how a culture of experimentation made it possible.
    • Participants will leave this workshop with:
    • A framework for designing future gatherings based on Priya Parker’s book, The Art of Gathering
    • An example connecting WHY with every facet of HOW, WHEN, WHO and WHERE to gather
    • A model of donor engagement and stewardship
  • Friday, December 13 – 9:00-10:15 a.m. – Beyond ‘Tot Shabbat’: Multi-generational Community-Building
    • ‘Tot Shabbat’ is a welcoming bridge to multi-generational spiritual and communal experiences. We focus on building relationships, connecting to a larger community, and creating doorways for the adults who bring their little ones!  Learn about the work of a think tank of practitioners, clergy and musicians, exploring new research, best principles, congregational success stories about the true power of a well-supported, meaningfully crafted Tot worship experiences for all.
  • Friday, December 13 – 2:00 p.m. – Performance on the Jewish Rock Radio Stage
